It was only a matter of time

I was just cruising down the beer aisle, and there it was – a Black NEIPA!

Collaboration by Platform (Cleveland) and Against the Grain (Louisville, KY.)  Actually, I guess I’ll have to try this, just to see how you can tell it’s opaque when it’s already black.  ???

Use a black light?

Ooh, that might look really cool.  It’s black.  It glows!  It’s black.  It glows!  They need to make one with glitter in it too…

or flakes of gold. They could call it Goldschläger.

Is against the grain with the price? It’s about $12 for a 4 pack of tall boys near me. Somehow I’ve always found something I’m happy with for less.

Wow. Didn’t pick it up, wasn’t looking to buy beer (I just always swing down the aisle for a look-see,) but I didn’t even notice the price on it.  I’m in Platform country of course, and I’ve found a lot of their stuff that I’ve tried enjoyable enough (nothing spectacularly life changing;) never had Against the Grain. But that’s some serious coin for a novelty.  Especially with no glitter.

Platform has some solid “flagship” beers like “Speed Merchant” and “Palesner” but they also seem to have a way of drawing and keeping interest in what they’re doing through collaborations and “project” beers.  You know how every homebrewing club has a few brewers who seem to live for the “specialty beer” category and always seem to be brewing something with ghost  peppers, cocoa nibs, Faygo Red Pop, breadfruit or eye of newt (or maybe all of those)?  Platform seems to kinda have that role among the craft breweries in Northeast Ohio.

I’ve been making fun for years, but I recently actually drank a Purple IPA, and it was actually pretty good.  Look up “butterfly pea beer”.

Sp?  “Butterfly pea” or “Butterfly pee?”  That second one, gotta be coming and I can’t wait… an obvious direction for wildcrafting brewers.

Not pee, but pea.  Serious.

Sadly, I’m probably serious too…

BTW I went back to the store intending to try the Black NEIPA and it was gone.  I’ll have to keep looking but it may have been very limited.  Yugamrap is right, Platform’s been spitting out the “special” projects so fast it makes your head spin.

OMG look what I found searching Dave’s butterfly pea thing:

I see you and raise you Peeps and glitter.
