Sorry Robert, I’ve a hatred of the Indians ever since '97. That being said, things look terrible for the O’s this season. Angelos is 93, there’s no way he’ll ever spend all of his millions before he croaks, he needs to just pay his players and get some pitching.
The O’s not even being listed in the running for some of the free-agent starters in mind blowing.
Somehow spring training always seems to go the opposite of the regular season. Your O’s should kick butt there, enjoy it! I’m just wondering how many days into spring training before Kipnis goes on the DL for four months. The new Brantley.
Phil, you really got in my head. Ever since you mentioned '97, all day all I can think of is Jose Mesa. #^([/;! %*&&@×? Jose Mesa. (Never did hate Renteria or the Marlins, just Mesa.)
Dang! That’s crazy! To be sure, I’m not opposed to Hunting just to hunter’s slack appreciation for the wilderness. Shoot your deer, fine. Pick up your damn trash. And it wouldn’t hurt you to climb that fat ass off that 4 wheeler and walk a few yards.
At least the Indians have gotten to the world series recently, I wasn’t even born when the O’s made their last appearance.
Angelos is an example of the worst breed of owner. Happy to sit back and make money off the team (and the Nats TV deal), he doesn’t care in investing in the team. Add an excellent stadium and loyal fanbase to the mix, and he doesn’t have to do anything.

Yeah, we’ve had the good fortune of committed ownership and top notch management for a long time. But I know what you’re up against Phil: similar story to the Browns. Lucky for me I’m basically a baseball guy.
If you’re a fan of both teams, their sharing a training facility would make for a doubly rewarding spring getaway! I wonder what the beer scene is like in Goodyear?
As I recall, the decision to move (when the FL lease was up) was based on the fact that more teams were in AZ, meaning more scheduling opportunities, and the suspicion was that even more teams would join the westward exodus. I haven’t checked the count lately, but one thing can be said, the weather is more reliable in AZ. The Indians were in Winter Haven because they lost their Homestead facility to Hurricane Andrew when it was brand new. And maybe enough teams training out there will placate Las Vegas for a while until a franchise is lured into their web!
I’ve been an O’s fan all my life, and this is the most frustrated I’ve been with them. We’ve had a good team for several years, but a stingy ownership (that makes millions off both the Nats and the O’s exclusive cable deals…they aren’t even on the basic packages, have to buy everything all the way South to NC.) that refuses to invest in the team has crippled us once again.
