I guess it’s officially springtime here. Wandering around the estate today I noticed that the almond trees have started to blossom, and a couple of days ago Cascade shoots started coming up everywhere. Steam hop shoot salad is on the menu this weekend.
Dang! That sounds dreamy!
Springtime in the desert is hard to beat.
I did see the silly aspen buds popping a bit yesterday,
but a foot of the white stuff is forecast for Monday here.
Hop shoots? Everything is good with bleu cheese dressing. 
My wife is French, she makes an amazing vinaigrette that works great with steamed hop shoots. We don’t eat any of that thick gooey salad dressing around here.
BTW since I started this thread there have been a couple dozen more blossoms open up.
I been smelling a lot of skunks the last few days. Sure sign of spring!
Yea…I saw the first signs of the hops shooting up. Won’t be long now here in the mid-atlantic.

My fig trees are showing their leaves. The grass is getting green and I’ll probably have to mow it. Jeez what happened? I need to get the tomatoes out quick!
But as far as desert goes it’s been dryyy.

We’ve had no rain and only 3 inches of snow since October, it’s bone dry out here… And I see more dead skunks on the road to my office every day.
We don’t plant tomatoes until after Easter here because there’s always one more freeze coming.
