Janet's Brown Ale

I’d like to know if anyone has brewed the extract version of the late Mike McDole’s "Janet’s Brown Ale on page 143 of Jamil Zainasheff’s and John Palmer’s book, Brewing Classic Styles.  If you did, how was it?  I generally make uncomplicated beers.  Janets Brown Ale calls for 8 ounces of hops which seems like a lot for a brown ale.  Mike McDole was a great brewer, so who am I to question?  Recipe contains 8.4 lbs. Light LME, 1 lb. Wheat LME,1.25 lbs. each Carapils Dextrin malt and Crystal malt, plus .5 Chocolate Malt, all for steeping.  Hops are Northern Brewer, Cascade and Centennial.  I’m interested in any feedback.

I haven’t brewed the extract version but I have brewed the all grain version. 8 oz is a lot of hops for a Brown Ale. That’s why that beer was revolutionary. It is really Brown/Black IPA. It is very good.

I’ve brewed the all grain recipe a couple of times. Really liked those.
