Thinking of setting up a kickstarter for a bathroom remodel. I figure if every BS brewery wanna be can get funded I can for a bathroom.
Most kickstarters have some prizes or incentives. I’m not sure where to go with that… ;D
$20 level - MP3 of you singing a cover song in the shower of the buyers choice.
$50 level - video of the $20 reward
I think you’d do better with an Indie-“gogo” campaign. Level #1 and Level #2 awards.
But it should be an incentive, not a huge deterrent.
If I kick in funds, do I get unlimited usage rights?
- $25 level (100 max) you get one of the original shower tiles.
- $50 level (4 max) gets one of the original chrome fixtures
- $200 level (10 max) Beautiful (laundered) bath towels
- $500 level (2 max) Original toilet or sink (you choose, first come first served)
** All contributors get a full color, panoramic photo of the finished remodel (you will be able to download it).
$5700 should get you started on the job. ;D

It’s bad enough breweries trying to open on kickstarter funds. But when ass-clowns come in here asking for kick starter funds to upgrade their homebrewery? Gawd how foolish.
Just to be clear before I donate, is your bathroom also a brewery? What are you “brewing” in there?
Yep. I will contribute to an existing brewery I know and like if they have very specific goals. Help us extend the tap room, our roof is leaking, new fermenter. Also, the rewards need to be fair. I’m not paying $50 for a shirt and pint glass.
Yes I only support crowd funded campaigns where I basically end up buying a product at a fair price. That product is not always good. Sometimes it’s exceptional though. I’m not one to donate to them. I’m making a purchase. Even if the purchase is a t-shirt for $20.
$20 is fair for a T-shirt in my opinion.
Yeah that’s what I’m saying. I’ll buy a shirt for $20 if I either like the shirt or the company.
Mike, we’re in the middle of a bathroom remodel ourselves. I wish I’d thought of this, because this is going to cost about 20% of what we paid for the house.
If you get some extra, send it my way.
Bathrooms are solid equity upgrades. Isn’t it something like 30-50% over the investment. Only kitchens pay out more.
It is a bad idea to sell your future production for discounted price in these fund raisers.
Yep, definitely a pricey but good investment.
We were lucky, the couple we bought from already got a home equity loan to do the bathrooms and roof 8)
Unfortunately, they ran out of money before they were able to renovate the kitchen or buy a new furnace :o
We’re talking about a bathroom here, aren’t we? Future production… I suppose you can sell that to someone.
Well maybe. Borrowing money from a bank isn’t free either. And a bank loan might be easier to get if you can show guaranteed, prepaid sales. But then it becomes a matter of managing that money so you don’t go bankrupt fulfilling those orders.
