Lagunitas to be wholly owned by Heineken

Not surprising to me after they sold the first 50%

“Nothing will change”.  …said so sincerely. (Pssst. They didn’t spend their money to let someone else make the business decisions.)

That was the quote from Walt at Wicked Weed, but for the sake of the Heineken side of it, I would change it to “We don’t want anything to change…” They are looking to just keep riding Lagunitas into the sunset.  Another article I read about it, said even after the first 50% buy that Lagunitas was still the fastest growing brand in the country.  All about $$$$$$… keep growing that brand and let people forget that actual Heineken is a disgusting skunked mess of a beer.  Maybe it’s good fresh, but it’s gross here in the States (in my opinion, obviously some people like it and drink it).

I do like Lagunitas, but I don’t buy it really… The most I’ve had of it has been free when they were sponsors of both the NHC in San Diego and the Pacific NW Homebrew Conference here in Vancouver.  They also just opened one of their charity meeting halls here in Portland.  Honestly if they want to use some of that big company money to sponsor Homebrew Cons and charities I’d still be OK with that.  I just won’t buy it at the store.

And they always told me that potheads can’t do well in business. Go figure.

Not surprising Lagunitas is growing so fast; it went from being a regional brand to being nationally distributed (I assume so anyway).  Also Heineken did it right by having Lagunitas build breweries rather the way Budweiser does it which is to brew beer in Budweiser factories.

Nevertheless, not sure how Lagunitas became so popular.  I don’t remember seeing Lagunitas that high in the top beer categories.

this would look a lot better if the owner didn’t spend years selling wolf tickets about never doing this very thing.

Exactly

;D ;D ;D

As luck would have it I used my Lagunitas wide mouth glass last night and placed it in the sink. This morning I washed it and went to put it away and it slipped from my hand and shattered into a million little pieces and 30 or so large shards. After spending a half hour picking up, wiping, cleaning, and vacuuming I think it would have been simpler and easier to recycle the glass in protest.

Perfect

Weirdly, I’ve never much cared for Lagunitas, but I’ve grown up loving Heineken…hope this works out well for both of them. Buyouts don’t have to be evil.

just hope it doesn’t effect their IPA. Quite possibly my favorite.
