OK, tonight I go to London. Be staying in West Kensignton. There’s a brewery nearby, billed as the last family brewery in London. In the UK the breweries own most of the pubs and this one is no exceptions. Have a little Google Maps pub tour planned out. Will report back.
If your in West Kensington , go a mile or 2 further and visit the Old City Arms, right at the base of the Hammersmith Bridge, great pub and one of my favorites in that section .
Have reservations for the tour. It is worth it. The reception area/museum/brewery tap in the vaults is very impressive, and the beer is not bad. Go to the brewery shop afterwards for some alcohol fueled purchases.
You can walk along the Thames back towards Hammersmith (hint - keep the river to your right). Stop at the Dove for a pint, as it is a historic pub that the wife and I have fond memories of. Continue along the Thames, stop at the pub by the bridge that mrbowenz recommends. That will be a good day.
Yes, I drive the bus. 24 hours which includes two naps. Not sure if they’re open on Sunday’s. Thanks for the recommendations. My day at the office just started. Going to be a long night.
No Fullers tours on Sunday… Someone in entourage needed to see NFL… in 3 Famous Kings… 4 beers on cask we will survive… ( not sure they’re meeting style descriptions… But who cares)
Famous Three Kings is in West Kensington, which is some way and several postcodes from Clerkenwell. Still, the tube would get you about if you were motivated.
These are different pubs, but with very similar names, so one can see the confusion. Strangely enough though, Elvis is one of the kings on the Famous Three Kings sign.
Somehwere, someone has written about British pub names and the recurrence. There’s some fairly deep history in some of them, and some quite unusual names.

Sort of like all of the Red Lion pubs not too far from Tragalger Square.
Bump. Headed to London in two weeks’ time. Already planning on going to The Rake Thursday Aug 4 to see my friend Roger talk about his brewery (http://www.staustellbrewery.co.uk/). We’ll be hitting Borough Market, of course, and Books for Cooks, and the Shaun of the Dead house, and Whole Foods.
Any other suggestions? Oscar, did you end up going to the Fullers brewery?
We’ll be all over - staying in Islington, plan on roving from Shoreditch to London Bridge to Kensington, and the SotD house is in Weston Park (N8) so I don’t see why Greenwich would be a problem.
Was on our way to The Craft Beer Co but we never made it. We did get to the Rake which was a good spot even if it was an expensive one to try out some American Beer. Da Hehms in Soho (China Town) is not too bad.
