I met Tom on this forum. He helped me a metric butt load with basic brewing stuff and beginning judging question… yup, I was that guy. Then I was heading to Seattle to help out at NHC first round, and was hoping to meet him, like in person. He was only there Friday night, I saw him but didn’t go introduce myself. Figured there’s time on Saturday, but he didn’t show on Saturday. Then he opened Post Doc. Never got the opportunity… one of the greatest guys I’ve never actually met. Like Denny and Drew and Matt and Eric and Jon and Keith and Joe and Dave and… Maybe some day.
By the way, just because it’s an internet forum don’t be thinking these aren’t real people, really cool people usually.
The last time I saw him he stopped by at Club Night (Grand Rapids?) to tell me that one of my beers had some medicinal phenolic off flavors. That’s a real friend.
I first met him at the conference in Oakland when we were both on the best of show beer panel. That was fun.
So good to finally check out your brewery, Keith. I was beyond impressed with Yellowhammer–what a great place to drink some amazing beers. I wish I had more time, but since I was leading the tour group, it would have been inappropriate for me to ditch them.
My wife Erin and I got to hang out with Tom after the World Beer Cup awards ceremony on Thursday. Great time. Tom is one of my favorite humans.
And just for the record, I’m not really that short.
