Mountain Ale and Lager Tasters (MALT) invites you to volunteer for the Blue Ridge Brew Off homebrew competition. The first judging sessions will happen Friday evening, September 25, with morning, afternoon, and Best of Show judging the following day Saturday, September 26. The phenomenal Burning Blush Brewery (just south of Sierra Nevada) will host us again this year.
Also new this year, we are offering a special event the afternoon of Friday Sept 25 particularly to benefit out-of-town BJCP judges who graciously travel to help with the competition. We have arranged a private “Beer Geek” tour at the nearby Sierra Nevada brewery from 2-5pm. This is the most thorough tour that SN offers, and includes access to areas of the brewery not included with any other tours, multiple beers, a T-shirt, and a filled growler. The regular price for this tour is $96, but we’re able to offer it to our participating BJCP judges for only $30.
We also have a block of rooms available at a discounted rate ($124) at the Clarion Inn Asheville Airport just east of the judging venue and SN. More information on this and the tour will be sent to registered judges.
MALT seeks to have a competition focused on high quality feedback. As such, we will continue to prioritize BJCP judges for judging support. If you are not a BJCP judge, we’d love your support as a steward.

Food will be provided during the Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon sessions, and light snacks will be provided for Friday night. If you require special meal items (e.g., vegan or gluten free) please state that when you register.
