Malt by the ounce

I’m sure this has probably been addressed but my search skills are failing me.  Several online retailers used to allow you to custom build a grain bill- purchase grains by the ounce or pound.  In the past I’ve used Brewmasters Warehouse (out of business I believe) and Austin Homebrew.  Pretty good selection and the ability to custom build a grain bill.  Austin Homebrew has gone to 4 ounce increments.  I realize this is petty on my part but are there any retailers that still do the custom grain bills?

Thanks in advance

PS- “local” homebrew shop is 3+ hours driving time.

greatfermentations.com does this.

The brewmasters warehouse site says their brew builder tech was bought by Northern Brewer.  But NB is not using it yet.

Homebrewsupply.com has a brew builder app on their site but seems to actually sell in increments of 1 pound.  A bit of a let down.

It does seem like many of the shops that used to sell by the ounce have moved to only selling by the pound or half pound. I know two of the local shops here sell by the ounce and will ship. http://www.txbrewing.com and http://finevinewines.com. I suspect you could find many other smaller shops selling online that will sell by the ounce.

There was a period when MoreBeer sold grains in their show room in pre-weighed bags. I think the smallest was 8oz. I don’t remember it lasting to long.

By the ounce and recipe building can be done easily at Ritebrew  RiteBrew.com - Brewing Supplies at Wholesale Prices
Better prices than most places I’ve seen. They will also preorder Wyeast for you on a specified date each month so you are getting the freshest yeast possible. Haven’t seen another online retailer do that. Been very happy with what I have ordered there.

I wonder if that’s what they are using for their beersmith integration.

Grape & Granary in Akron, Ohio sells by the ounce, whole or crushed.

+1 My LHBS. You can order, for example 1.1 pound, etc, ie., fractions.

Luckily I have a pretty good local and can get a large selection of grains in the amount that I need. Before I lived here I would coordinate several brews in a row to use up a pound of specialty grains: four ounces of crystal 40 in an IPA, four ounces in a brown ale, then eight in a barleywine.

Neddles mentioned it above but it is worth repeating.  Does any other site make entering/ordering a grain bill this easy?

Seriously.  Thanks for the link. Such simplicity.

FYI - I don’t own a mill so I have Rite Brew mill the grain for me.  The grain arrives in a fairly heavy clear plastic bag with a strip of stickers attached (one sticker for each grain ordered).

The other thing I like that RiteBrew does is add a date telling when they bagged/you ordered the grain. Wether you ordered an ounce or 40# you know how long it has been since it left the store.
