Manufacturer has Changed

the thread pattern and closure on 2 liter plastic bottles of canada dry
ginger ale…not sure what all else is now no longer the same…

GRRRRRRRRR…my carbonator no longer will seal the gas in the new

style…pssssssst…dammit!  >:(  >:(  >:(

You can make your own with a cap and a tire valve.

Kroger (aka City Market) store-brand club soda and tonic water still come in 1 L and 2 L bottles with the standard PET threads. I don’t know if they have a store-brand ginger ale, but for $0.78 apiece you could always just dump out the club soda.

Thanks guys, I just needed a little rant I guess. I have not looked very far for a
substitute.  The last 2 times I have bought that product the empty pet bottle did not
seal…so I figured with my luck the entire industry had left me in the dust as usual…

I complained about this a while back. Pretty much all the PET bottles in my area have gone to the new thread and cap. The Carbonator people need to do a redesign or this nifty little item will be useless.

I’ve been hoarding my 2&1 litre bottles.

The Talking Rain 2L bottles, and some store brand ginger ale and tonic water bottles I’ve gotten recently have all worked no problem with my carb caps.

Great Idea above tho… ::slight_smile:
Out comes the drill and the tire valve.

I went the tire-valve route first and prefer the QD design as it is more stable and fits in with my system well. Get the screw on inflater for tire-valves. That way you don’t have to hold it together while you shake the bottle.

I buy store brand club soda since there’s no flavor to be left behind and they still fit.  I have to take the ring off that is attached to the cap when you buy it, though.

I’ve found that a good soak in an Oxiclean solution will take care of the soda flavor/smell.

And if Oxiclean (or PBW) doesn’t do it, a strong baking soda/ warm water solution likely will.

can you define “Strong”?

Damn you nitpickers!  :)  Not really, I guess.  It’s kinda one of those “I know it when I see it” situations.
