Hi all!
I recently brewed a few batches using an excel worksheet, a “mash calculator” if you will.
only need to enter the data concerning batch size, temperatures of grain, desired mash temp, etc. It calculates the water usage and loss from evaporation and tubing loss, also calculate adjuncts and step mash, etc.
In a word: an incredible tool!
one drawback: the one I have isn’t accurate!!!
Damn!
Any of you have an accurate and reliable worksheet download link?
thanks!
Isn’t accurate, how? What’s is off?
I use BeerAlchemy to plan my mash. Yet, some of the process is simply iterative. Whoops, too much water, too low pre-boil gravity. My efficiencies aren’t as good as most recipes assume, so I lower the efficiency percentage for the next batch.
Can you post a link to the spreadsheet?
Edit: Gordon Strong says it better than I did: http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/forum/index.php?topic=6703.0
