mason canning jars for bottling

Well I’m about 8 bottles short for bottling day. I’m considering using a few of my many empty 32oz mason jars with new lids screwed on tight. Just wondering, although  not the best bottle ,will it work?

Nope. Designed to hold a vacuum, not pressure.

Try soda bottles instead.  They are designed for higher pressure than beer bottles.

I know there is risk of cap pop off, but I have used 16 and 20oz plastic soda bottles to finish a batch.

On a couple of occasions, I’ve used a 16 oz. plastic vinegar bottle and that has thinner walls than the pop bottle.  Before screwing the cap on, I squeeze all the excess air out and this gives me an idea of how the carbonation is coming along.  Never had any issues with it.

I really appreciate the responses. I have decided to go with plastic bottles. Don’t know why I did not think of it myself.
