Mega Millions jackpot breaks record!

A historic $540 million jackpot is up for grabs Friday as the Mega Millions lottery is living up to its name.

Yeah, but if I won I wouldn’t need to come to work anymore…what a tragedy!

I was going to renew my AHA subscription today, but now I think I’ll use that money to buy lottery tickets…thanks Bluesman

If I win, I’m hiring a singing telegram to tell work I quit.

Good idea and if you win, you can just buy the AHA.

Got mine!
If I win, everyone on the board gets a round on me!

Fine print:
the term “a round on me” is only redeemable for 5 dollars worth of the beer of your choice at the location of my choosing. Proof of AHA membership is required before the prize can be claimed. Not valid in the state of Ohio.

When I win, you’re all invited for a group brew day at my whimsical, fantastical Willy Wonka style brewery

I’m pullin’ for ya, Mike!

Great…I’ll take mine in Germany.  Where should I pick up my plane ticket?  ;D

Got mine as well Mike!  Would love to never go in to work again.  Beer camp reunion on me!

Mike

You guys realize there’s only a slightly better chance you will win if you play as opposed to if you don’t, right?

It’s a dream catcher Keith. You gotta have dreams.

I remember the last time I went in on a big lottery like this and one guy was so excited about it the day before and visibly upset when we didn’t win, and those were the words I spoke to him.

technically speaking you have an infinitely better chance at winning if you play. Even if it’s only 1 in 10 million that you will win if you play, it’s 0 in 10 million if you don’t. infinite is a big number.

I’m not planning on buying a ticket but just to clear things up mathematically speaking. still not worth getting excited over

Technically speaking the difference between 1 and 10 million and 0 in 10 million is … uhm … one.

no the difference between 1 and 0 is 1 but the difference between 1/10000000 and 0/10000000 is infinite.

Zero is tricky. while 2 is 200% of 1 1 is not 200% of 0. So if you play twice you increase your odds of winning by 100% but if you play once instead of none the percentage increase becomes undefined. or infinite depending on how you want to look at it.

If I have one cookie I have one cookie. when that cookie is gone I have 0 cookies. The difference is one.

Always called lotteries “Stupid tax” but would buy $10 worth today just in case the slimmest off chance caused me to win. Too bad it’s out of my reach out there in cali.

I wouldn’t even bother calling in to work if mine were the winning numbers. ::slight_smile:

You’re a buzzkill today Keith!

Hell yeah… Nice to see you join the party Mike. Sorry to hear about Tebow… But that’s another thread  8)

Unfortunately, mega-millions is here in Texas too! I’m throwing $10 at it on the way to work…
