Miami Heat's Chris Bosh & Sam Calagione Homebrew a Stout

Check out this video of Miami Heat’s Chris Bosh and Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione touring LA while homebrewing a stout in the back of their stretch limo.

It got me thinking… what other athletes or “celebrities” out there are also homebrewers? Here are a few I know off the top of my head:

  • Jared Veldheer (Arizona Cardinals)
  • Wil Wheaton (Stand By Me, Start Trek)
  • Aisha Tyler (voice of ‘Lana’ from the animated show Archer)

Cool.  It’s wild to think of professional athletes getting geeky with homebrewing but it’s beer after all so not surprising.  Thanks for posting.

Aisha Tyler may just be my new hero. Between who’s line, Archer, and her book, now you say she brews

Not home brewers but Jared Payton and Frank Thomas have commercial brands

Wil Wheaton is so smug in his geekiness. I like the guy, but I can also see him being my arch nemesis.

With a Zymatic!

Sam seemed smashed by the end…haha

Chris Bosh is the only one I have heard of. I may be out of the loop because I don’t watch TV, but frankly this is not a very impressive list. I want to hear that Bob Dylan, Kim Kardashian and the guy Dick Cheney shot in the face are tweaking an English Barleywine recipe in Jay Leno’s garage.

Apparently I’m just copying what Sam does. He first endorsed the Brew Magic, now the Zymatic. Huh.  8)

That was a fun little mini episode.

I am both a celebrity and homebrewer.

Does LA have an open container law?

Limos and part buses are exempt. Cities and counties can also set their own rules as far as in public, but many do not allow it. I used to live in a town that was across two counties, one county was for and the other against.

I think they had this covered. Sam is a pro, as they say.

Did you notice all of the Champaigne flutes behind them? In some areas I think it has to do with a professional driver, and a partition between the driver and imbibing passengers. Then there are buses with no partition and a keg in back.

How about Kathy Ireland?

I think one of the members of String Cheese Incident home brews.  I heard he travels with a system and brews with fans.

The bassist from the Metal band Nekrogoblikon is a homebrewer. He posts regularly to /r/homebrewing.
