Went to an SCA event today… (You can Google that)
Had two growlers of my American Brown Ale. Served them up to about 7 or 8 people in an hour by 1 pm. 7pm at dinner they were still telling me how much they liked it…
I think it’s a keeper. 8) 8) 8)
Been awhile since I been to an SCA event… Need to dust off my staff and bracers and go to one soon! Congrats on the others liking your beer!
I took a growler of Irish Red and a liter of Cider to an even yesterday. The people I shared it with liked it and the it was gone a flash.
SCA events are great for sharing your brews.
Got to try some mead I actually liked, another brewers Kolsch and Oatmeal stout.
The SCA got me into brewing. Sadly, I quickly discovered that it’s just about impossible to make medieval style beer with modern ingredients, although Belgian sour ales and some smoked beers come close. I’ve gafiated, but I have fond memories.
“Great, kid. Don’t get cocky.” Congratulations, a recipe that keeps people talking about it, is a definite keeper.

OK, here’s another story… For those of you that don’t know, I fly airplanes for a living and spend upwards of 100 nights a year in a hotel in 10-15 countries. Most people that bring home bed bugs “catch” them in hotel rooms. I take certain precautions to try and avoid that… with that in mind:
This morning at about 04.00 happily asleep in my own bed I was awoken because “something” was walking around on my leg… Within about 2.3 seconds I was upright, uncovered and the light was on and I caught “it”. A bug. A bed bug?
So, minutes later I am in my study with said specimen and a magnifying glass looking at very unpleasant pictures on the interweb, as well as visiting the web site of the amateur entomology society and trying to use their “bug identification chart”… Lots of words I didn’t understand. Did you know you can send your bug to the government to have it identified? No charge!
As I progressed I formed the opinion that what I had was NOT a bed bug. It had a two part body, but the two parts were about equal sized. The BB has a small forward part and large rear part. (Not going to say head and torso as I have no idea which “systems” are where)… Also the BB is dark/red whereas my bug was white/tan. Furthermore my specimen was 7.5-8mm (after I squished it somewhat), BB’s are smaller by a few mm. Then it hit me. BB have six legs, mine had…seven. OK, four on one side three on the other. I think it is a safe assumption that the fourth one on the side with three was lost in the scuffle in bed and on the way to my desk.
PHEW! It appears I had an arachnid of sorts. For the record, my overnight bag lives in the garage and never makes it in the house. On layovers it, and the flight bag, are parked on hard surfaces, and no clothing goes on any upholstered furniture. Most if not all lives in the suitcase with the lid down.

I also spent a couple years as an exterminator and have an education in environmental pest management. I’ve seen bed bugs more than once, and a few things you don’t want to think about.
In college we had some guys that grabbed a used couch and moved it into their dorm and brought bed bugs with them. They’d get drunk, pass out on the couch and wake up the next morning with huge red welts all over them. That was my first bed bug job when I was a student. I’m surprised we don’t have more threads on stored product pests. Indian Meal Moth, rice and granary weevil, confused flour beetle, cigarette beetle…I’ve seen 'em all.
I don’t travel off the continent but I travel a lot and I live in fear of bringing the little buggers home with me too. They’re a real pain to get rid of once you’ve got them. Glad to hear your taking some precautions.

Nope, not a bed bug.
Some sort of little spider, who knows what kind. Given you’re in Pennsylvania, I think it’s probably an Amish Wood Spider.

If I had to guess the actual type of spider, I’d suggest it’s probably a variety of Sac spider. Normally found outside but they often come inside and are thought to be one of the main suspects when people are bitten by spiders. Check out this link and I’ll bet it looks a lot like what you found.
