Naturally carbonating a stout in a keg

Is there anything different than mixing it with an appropriate amount of dme? like a standard tap vs a stout tap?

nope. If you want nitro stout you will need to get beer gas to push it out with and a stout tap.

So a standard tap if carbing normally? pity, kinda like the look of a stout tap

The benefits of beergas vs natural carbing is what?

oh I don’t know about that. Not real familiar with the stout tap I just know you are supposed to use one when serving with beer gas. might be fine to serve Co2 carbed stout with a stout tap.

I have heard both that it is fine to do it and that it doesn’t work.  However, since the N2 doesn’t dissolve into the beer well, you can carbonate naturally and then push it through a stout faucet with N2/CO2.  I know pro brewers who carb with CO2 and then push with the blend, this is the same thing except where the CO2 comes from.
