Hi first post but here it goes so I just bought a property in pocono mountains and have my own well… it is suggested to ad a whole house water filtration system.
I’m new to home brewing and will set up a all grain system to get serious at this home. So need help with this.
Here is my water analysis… what is the verdict and also what system is recommended for best brewery water.
Go to Ward Labs, www.wardlab.com, and request a homebrewer’s home water test, and they will send a vile for you to fill and send to them, and in a week, you will have all the info you need for your brewing water.
Next go to Bru’nwater at https://sites.google.com/site/brunwater/ and download a spreadsheet for adjusting your water to brewing specifications. It comes with detailed instructions how to do it, and you can get help doing it here.
The manganese result is troubling. That upper EPA limit is an aesthetic standard in which the water tends to taste ‘metallic’ at levels above the limit. If you don’t taste a metallic flavor in that water or beers, then you are OK to brew.
That water is likely to be acceptable for brewing due to its low Dissolved Solids content, but that water report does not provide enough info. You need to send it off for testing.
Will get it tested then… thanks everyone
Without an alkalinity test, it is hard to know how to adjust your water.
