Hello all!
I am kegging my first beer, a 5-gallon Azacca extract ale from Northern Brewer. Once I keg it, I will be away on Christmas vacation for 10 days. I was wondering if this is the best way to go about carbonating it: Would 12 psi at 38 degrees work best for it? After I get back in 10 days and pull a pint, should I set the psi to something lower, like 3 psi? Thanks for taking the time to answer what is probably a common type of question.
That should be fine, except leave it at 12 psi if that’s your desired carbonation. I always set my kegs at serving pressure and forget about them for a week or two then pull off a pint and I’m good to go. So you should be good after 10 days, will probably get better a week or so after that as well.
You should be fine at 12 psi to carb and for serving pressure bit you need to account for serving line length. In my set up those pressures and temps require 10’ of Bev line to get a good pour.
