A great resource has gotten even better with the release of the new Hopunion variety databook. I haven’t figured out how to d/l it yet, but maybe one of you geniuses here can. It’s online at http://www.hopunion.com/17_HopVarietyHandbook.cfm?p3=open .
They’re using Issu Publishing, but they’ve disabled (or just failed to enable) downloading.
I have an opinion about that, but it’s not terribly kind. I would say contact them and say “People would love to have a download of this like they’ve had of your pdf for years!”
That may be what I do. Maybe we should start a campaign! Heck, I’d even pay (a reasonable amount) for it. But it would be great if they looked at it as a sales tool and made it freely downloadable.
I’ve got a print copy that I’ve kept on my desk since I got it. Would be a shame if they didn’t let you download it. I see you can print at least one page of a time of it, maybe print to PDF and recombine. I’m hesitant to scan or do that and release it since it does have the typical “No part of this book may be reproduced…”
this is actually done in your printer driver and not thru the browser/plugin, on mac os x printing to a pdf is system-wide and available anywhere you can print. Not sure about windows/linux, you may have to install a dummy pdf driver but i’ll leave that for a windows pro to answer.
Yeah, I just happened to mouse over that and notice it was clickable. The whole site looks like it’s an out of the box template,s o maybe they didn’t think about a direct download option.
The book is great, though, it’s nice to see it’s been updated.
I know it’s called CUPS. Printing through the browser I only get the first two pages no matter what I set them on. I ain’t joining Issuu just to download this pdf. I’ll bookmark Denny’s link and access it there, which is just as easy as opening a file.
Not off topic AFAIC. Thanks for the tip I installed cups-pdf but will only print what’s displayed and not page ranges. So I have a bunch of pdf’s potentially. Any suggestions?
