So I’m here. I missed the Braun beer as they tapped the doppelbock on Wednesday, but I am stuck with tiny little half liter glasses as they won’t serve the 8% doppelbock in full liters! I know I read in here somewhere that in Munich, the half litres are only for women and children. I guess they did not hear that here
Yes it was great, had 2 half litres of the doppelbock and finished with a litres of dunkel. All went really well with the Bavarian Jager schnitzel, as well as the pretzels and kraft ball appetizers
That one sounded wonderful, maybe next time. Loved the note in the menu that once upon a time, JFK was busted trying to steal a litre mug at the original in Munich
Well, a half-liter is a bit more than a pint…so for an 8% brew, I’d say that’s a fairly healthy serving. It’ll ‘get you there’
Hell…my ‘local’ won’t serve any hi-test brew in anything larger than an 8 oz serving in a wine glass.
you can cut someone off regardless of the serving size. we’re not talking about 1/2 gallon + servings!
serve me 1/2 liters all night and I roll out and cause a problem, could be trouble for the establishment anyway (silly and sad, but true…accountability should be on the individual)
I agree, unfortunately, the legal system and the general public hold the establishment at fault. Mainly because in most cases, that is where the money is
Establishment can’t control everyone, these are just their attempts at CYA. In a legal sense, they look better for making the effort, and then can attempt to shift the blame to the patron (where it belongs anyways) it all comes down to the efforts of MADD trying to hold bars responsible for alcohol related deaths, thus making personal liability less important because suing individuals does not generally generate as large of a payday compared to suing say a large national restaurant chain with millions of dollars in revenue. The individual is still responsible criminally, but the lawyers go after the business in civil courts for big payouts
