Just wondering if the Homebrewcon is being impacted by the virus concerns or the recent tornado damage in Nashville? Hoping it is still a go, but I could understand the AHA making hard choices under the circumstances…
We are certainly monitoring the situation with the COVID-19 virus closely and are working with the Gaylord (Homebrew Con host hotel) and the city of Nashville. As of now, we have no plans to cancel Homebrew Con, and I am very much looking forward to meeting members in Nashville in June. We’ll have additional information posted to the HomebrewCon.org website within the next few days.
Tornado was just North of Opryland Hotel. Sad times as many lives were lost. We recently rebuilt here and tornadoes are an awesome force from Mother Nature. If you haven’t been to the hotel, it is really beautiful. They recently rebuilt from a massive flood a few years back. Nashville is a great place to visit.
Can we expect an update in the next couple days? Not to be all gloom and doom, but based on the plan set up by the City of Nashville, the math doesn’t seem to work out for this to happen?
Look for 2023, next time in the middle of the Country.
The coming rotation is West, East, Middle.
The Email said the 2021 HomebrewCon will be in San Diego CA at the Town and Country. Contracts are done far in advance to lock in the dates at the venue. West was a done deal. East may be far along.
Yeah. It’s probably too late to change up the rotation since bookings happen so far in advance. Looking forward to Nashville whenever it happens. I wasn’t able to attend this year regardless, but I’ll (hopefully) be able to do it in 2023!
Well, this is especially disappointing for those of us who live so close to Nastyville but have long distance travel restrictions. I know the local clubs had big plans.
However, from the description, the virtual meet up is a pretty good alternative to a physical meet up. In fact, to be frank it makes it a lot more approachable for someone like me.
As a matter of fact, if it goes well, I’d like to see the option to join in the fun virtually for all future meet ups.
A reduced fee such as this year’s for those of us who cannot travel would be ideal. It would be an additional resource generator that would not otherwise be realized. If someone can’t travel, they wouldn’t be going anyway which would net zero income for the AHA. But if the option to attend virtually was available a certain percentage of those who couldn’t attend physically could possibly attend virtually.
