Bummer! I liked that yeast because it was still like only $1.99 the last time I looked (a few years ago).
It’s probably identical or almost identical to Windsor or M15. Aim for the M15 if you want a smaller packet of like 10 grams instead of Lallemand’s 11 grams, and lower prices. And you can always just opt to use half a packet and save the rest in your fridge, I do this all the time.
Me too! In fact, I keep them in the freezer. The one thing you do have to worry about once the seal is broken is the dried yeast can be hygroscopic and if it absorbs moisture it is prone to mold. So I zip lock and store in freezer.
Yep I know. Might be cheaper in bulk. These days sometimes I am buying 2 to 10 packs at a time because it’s a deal on Amazon, save a little money where you can to bring the average price per pack down. They’ll still cost more than Munton’s did but the ouch is less.
I noticed a Google search on this doesn’t turn up anything about it. And going directly to the Muntons site, it looks like they just quietly got out of producing yeast. Whether they were producing it or not. They make a reference in there to Fermentis and it looks like they’ve got somebody else’s yeast for sale, predominantly for wine. They only have one beer strain listed on the site.
