Nooner Pils

anyone tried this yet?

Looking forward to it - I enjoy Polestar Pils from lefthand quite a bit, but aside from that there aren’t a whole lot of good american made examples of a crisp German Pils.

havent had it yet, but another good one is Tröegs Sunshine Pils

I just saw the post from SN. I’m wondering what style of Pils it is?

By the way, the Lagunitas Czech Pils is a nice malty pils. Too bad its a little low on the bittering. Just a little to full of a finish, in my review.

German style.

Lagunitas Pils is good but like most of their beers to me - it’s good, but once is enough for me

Wish I could try the Sunshine Pils - love the Amber and doppel

Interesting.  Have not seen it yet.

I did try this nooner…  I guess nooner is a SN term for session.

Stoudt’s Pils is excellent. I also think that FW Pivo Pils seems more like a German Pils than an Bo Pils to me, and that beer is phenomenal.

I have had the Sierra Nevada German Pils that won the WBC G. Pils Category in 2010 while at the taproom in Chico. It was darned good! Brewed on the 10 bbl pilot system back then. Looking forward to the production version.

agreed that Pivo from FW is awesome.  sadly, we do not get any of their beers over here.

perhaps I should have stated not that there aren’t a lot of good american made examples, rather that we don’t get distribution of them.

Used to get Stoudts but no longer. We do get Prima, which I do love, but it just doesn’t fit the bill for me when I want something refreshing and not an IPA after a long weekend run or something.

Having my first victory prima pils right now… It’s very tasty

Yeah, that’s a nice one fresh. I’d love to try the FW Pivo and the Sierra, though.

Yeah I have to say it’s an exceptional German pils. At the new burgers 2 beer that opened and they have it on tap- happy hour $4.50 for 24oz

Jon, I haven’t seen any Firestone beers around here. Have you? The closest I can get is picking up some of the Trader Jack’s beers which are brewed by FW. I’m sure we will see the SN pils here soon.

Not for awhile. Believe it or not, I found a few one day at the Discount Liquors/Parti Pack  ( South side @Stop11 and Madison)~ a year or two ago.  I bought all they had, which was maybe 6 bottles of assorted stuff, all excellent. Then they never got any more. Never seen any others anywhere here. I tried several in Cali a few years back and was blown away by how good they were.  Yeah, we should at least get the SN and I buy the Victory when I can find it fresh.

EDIT -  The FW was 750s in boxes. No 6 packs.

Keeping my eye out in Cleveland for SN

Agreed. I love me some Prima Pils, but it’s a bit more hop-forward than what I’m typically looking for in a crisp Pilsner. Heavy Seas “Uber Pils” is pretty nice, too. But at 7% it’s a bit big and rich for the style. It’s definitely out of the lawnmower beer category.

Yeah Prima is for sure a bit on the hoppy side as compared to most European pilsners, but I sure like it too. I just have a hard time finding it fresh sometimes. Not surprisingly Victory’s IPAs fly off the shelves quicker and are easier to get fresh.

I think Real Ales’ Han’ Pils is pretty darn good. Oddly enough it sells as the cheap beer at $2 a can at some of the local bars.

I’m good for buying at least a 6 pack when visiting the in-laws in TX. Pretty good pilsner.

had my first try of this on new years.  what a great german pils.  surprisingly very different from summerfest.  nice floral hop aroma and hints of cracker like malt.  crisp, dry and refreshing.  bitter, but not overly so.

had a couple after a nice 5mi run while watching football, and it definitely hit the spot.

will be keeping this in the fridge for sure - kind of fits the bill when i just want a thirst quenching beer, not something over the top in any one direction.

havent seen them here yet. what do you think, 35-40IBU with some spalt hops?
