NOT the way to start a brew day

Carrying a paper bag full of 10.5 Lbs. of Pilsner malt to the mill.  I didn’t make it half way before it ripped.  No I didn’t make a Garage Floor beer.  I bought more.

Sucks

Ouch

That sucks, Steve.  I had that happen once when I was getting grain milled at the LHBS - it was a strong beer of some sort and they put it all in a big paper bag. Got home and it hit the floor. It was a pretty impressive string of obscenities that followed, even for me.

Damn! I’ve done that, but I used the malt, made a fine beer. If you think of where malt comes from, the garage floor doesn’t seem all that bad

I really hate it when they use paper bags for grain. When you pick it up there is so much outward pressure that if it touches just about anything, it doesn’t have to be sharp, it breaks. I got some grain all over my car when my thumb went right through it.

I bring a 5 gallon bucket & lid to my LHBS and mill directly into that.

Man, that sucks…I probably would’ve used it anyway.

+1 Mine turned good as well.

Damn that sucks.

One of my local shops uses paper bags and I feel it’s only a matter of time before that happens to me too.

Bummer. I once knocked over my mash tun as I was sparging. Grains and water every where on the garage floor. I only collected about half of what I needed. Painful.

I’ve lost half my grain before and used it.  Was just fine.  I sweep before brewing though.  Not that it should matter.

I do this, only issue I see is if there is oil of chemicals on the floor.

Just use it and add “floor malted” to the description.

There’s the answer of the day!
