Man, this place is great.
Yep. Ocean beaches, mountains, water falls, river gorges, high desert, all within a few hours drive.
Some good beer and eats too.

That might actually be it. Is that Haystack Rock?
Well I guess I did remember a thing or two from the 80’s. I was wrong on which scene, but it was there. Thanks erockrph!
Haystack Rock is a 235 ft-tall (72 m) sea stack in Cannon Beach, Oregon. The monolithic rock is adjacent to the beach and accessible by foot at low tide. The Haystack Rock tide pools are home to many intertidal animals, including starfish, sea anemone, crabs, chitons, limpets, and sea slugs. The rock is also a nesting site for many sea birds, including terns and puffins.
In 1968, a protrusion of a rock that was used as a ledge by those illegally climbing it was blasted off.

Haystack Rock can be seen in the opening scene of The Goonies, when the Fratellis are fleeing from the police and then enter a race on the beach. It can be seen in the background. Later in the film you can see the Haystack Rock again when Mikey is pointing out some rocks in the distance.
Because at your age (really close to mine) it would be too big of a change to move?
