Perlick Flow Control to QD Adapter

I just bought an adapter to connect a Perlick flow control faucet to a liquid quick disconnect (MFL).  It works great.

Here is a photo.

Here is a beer 2-3 seconds after serving. Very nice for no lines to provide restriction. The serving pressure is 11 PSI.

The adapter is very expensive. $30! But we only live once.

Very nice.  Good lookin brew, too.

I have this:

that’s faucet and connection in one piece. Very expensive, 93 euros!

Very similar. Regarding expensive. It’s embarrassing how much I spent on mine total.

Faucet to QD adapter: $30
Faucet: $50
Tap handle: $15
Shipping: $8

Last night was the first night I had it. I liked it so much I went back to the keg a few extra times.

Is the compensator part of the adaptor or of the faucet?

I think you mean the lever to adjust flow. It is part of the faucet. The adapter is just 2 small pieces of metal to connect the faucet to a liquid quick disconnect.

I was interested in this for my first kegging setup, but went with a cheap picnic tap because of the comments about the Perlick faucets on an earlier thread:

I’ll wait… starting with the basics won’t kill me. But it looks nice.

Did you get every thing at one place Tommy …or have to go to several different places?

Several places. The QD adapter for the Perlick flow control faucets (and Intertap) was only available at one place that I know of; CHI Company. Everything else is easy to find.

The standard adaptors works but limit the function of the flow control by a large amount. Still functions ok for pulling straight off a keg.

I like the idea of no line cleaning. …one less thing.

I still use my Marks 2 Keg Cleaner to pump starsan through the taps every couple of months. This is especially needed after hoppy beers. The flow control taps can get bits of hops stuck in them. When this happens, the beer is very foamy when served.

How do those tap setups work off the keg when the beer is fairly highly carbonated…like 3+ volumes?

I don’t know for sure. I believe that they have helped me through one or two times when I have overcarbed, but, I have never served a beer intentionally above 2.5-ish volumes CO2.
