I have a Pinter and I just moved it to the fridge. The base had a really thick brown liquid. It was like the mix that came with it. Is that normal.
I don’t know what a Pinter is, however if this was a dark beer I imagine what you are seeing is the yeast slurry
This is a Pinter. It’s a simplified brewing setup and service in one vessel. Makes 12 pints in a go - you mix, ferment and then when it’s done, put the vessel in the fridge and serve from it. (The AHA had a partner deal email with them back in August or so). Haven’t had a chance to play with one, but…
Terry, the thick brown liquid at the base - would you say brown or tannish/beige? If it’s really dark and syrupy, I’d suspect it’s the extract that comes in the pinter pouch didn’t dissolve all the way. If it’s more beige and sludgey/goopey then that’s probably your yeast settled out.
This is the first dark beer I’ve done. so maybe that’s what it was.
It seems like it was the slurry. I followed the directions and shook it for a minute. I’ll find out in an another day how it turned out
.
I’ve never had that happen. Don’t think that’s good. Sounds like the fresh pack didn’t fully dissolve and some sank into the dock. See how the beer turns out.
FYI, it needs more than the minute of shaking. I usually do 2-3 minutes.
Check out the Pinter forum, post pictures if you have any. Also the BeerChef on Youtube has great videos and tutorials. May help solve your issue.
Good luck. Let us know how the beer turned out.
Well I’m drinking it and it is pretty good. I will make sure I shake it longer but it turned pretty good.
