A beautiful day so I decided to take the afternoon off from work around the homestead and fire up El for now. Pizza as well as a loaf of pain de campagne and some pizzas are happening.
My neighbor has an amazing wood oven that I get to use about 40% of the time (they travel about 60%)
They spoiled me for pizza forever. Out of desperation that 60% of the time, I took a chance and ordered the Italia Pizza Oven accessory for my camp chef stove. I’ve got to tell you that thing is a very nice compromise if you can’t or don’t want to build a wood oven. I can get it up to 900 degrees easily, and it’s very affordable. Especially if you already have the stove. Plus it’s portable. Most of our friends who’ve been over for pizza have ordered one.
A bunch of us who camp together take them to the coast and drive the other campers nutz with the aroma of fresh pizza wafting thru the campgrounds.
Check it out if you’d love a pizza oven outdoors but can’t do the real deal.
For those with an HOA, just get an Akorn Kamado (on sale at Lowe’s until 4/26) and raise a large thick pizza stone into the dome with some fire bricks.
As an added bonus you can grill and smoke with it.
Is it that your HOA prohibits outdoor cooking structures? In my HOA I don’t know if we’ve approved pizza ovens but we’ve definitely approved several built-in grills and smokers.
Because my lot is so close to “common area” there is a bi-law banning any permanent outdoor structures producing noxious amounts of smoke. Given examples are fireplaces, firepits, and smokers within 65Ft of the said common area. Because I live on one of the ponds that leaves me to 4ftx6ft area to work with off the sun room. I don’t want an outdoor fireplace or pizza oven that close to my house or that close to my kids swing set. If it was on wheels it would be fine according to the HOA.
