If you did not know, the Penguins won game 7 tonight and are moving onto the Eastern Conference Final. The 70s stache will be around for at least 4 more games, and at least 10 more days, getting bigger by the day. Here’s hoping it lasts for 8 more wins just like last year!
My team was out of it before the season even started… (To call what Carolina is doing “rebuilding” is being generous… but hey, they FINALLY figured out they need a damn goalie… only took 10 years).
I’m kinda pulling for Nashville since I don’t have a dog in the hunt and they are the underdog/Cinderella story. They looked DAMN impressive against Chicago and then the St Louis series was a barnburner.
Last nights game was impressive. Fleury stood on his head (as he’s wont to do). It only gets crazier from here on out. I don’t know what to expect from the Sens… I only watched one of their early round games.
I love playoff hockey. I don’t care who the teams are.
I agree wholeheartedly about playoffs. Most important thing to remember about playoff Hockey and hockey fans is this: We watch the games, not the commercials (NFL) we would die to miss a game/sell our seats(MLB last year both in Cleveland and in Chicago) and this trophy is too important to award to a team that has not been through at least 16 games to win it (NBA has this right as well). Don’t mind me, just my usual NHL playoff rambling to show why hockey is the best sport in the World!
I’m not a Caps fine, despite them being the most local team. (I’ll never root for any DC team)
That being said, I wish they’d just win so their fans will finally calm down. It’s baseball season, but every time the Caps make the playoffs you’d never know it…
The only bad thing is that both conference finals are already determined. That means no playoff Hockey tonight! Maybe I’ll watch NBA playoffs… Nope, Cavs are already through to the finals after a second sweep. Yawn…
It seems most likely that the Caps can do well in the playoffs the next time the Penguins don’t make the playoffs or get eliminated early. 9-1 all time for Pens over Caps in Playoffs. And also, the last 2 times the Pens beat the Caps in the playoffs, the Pens win the Stanley Cup both times. Bring it on Ottawa

That said, I have to root for Ottawa, as this is a Canadian game, and I always root for the canucks that are in (mostly Calgary and Edmonton), unless of course my favorite team the Flyers are in (I am not holding my breath).

I’m glad Nashville won and advanced last night. I was secretly hoping for a game 7 since I wasn’t home to watch the game last night, but better to finish it off in 6 and not take any chances.
It’s gonna be a hell of a final, whoever makes it. This has been a good playoff.
I liked Anaheim but do like Nashville getting to the final for the first time. Hoping that will satisfy them [emoji12]
It will be one heckuva final. Hoping it includes the Pens obviously. We deserve it after all the injuries. Makes it worthwhile
I saw the last few seconds of last nights game while we were out to dinner, pretty stoked about a game 7.
I love Nashville being there as an 8 seed, just goes to show anyone can make it. The year Carolina won the cup I’m pretty sure Edmonton was the 8 that year and it took us 6 games(?) to beat them? I have to go back and look, but that was a hell of a run. Carolina was a 2 or 3 if my memory serves and we faced the 1 seed in the ECF. That was a long time ago (2006) so I’m sure I’m not remembering right.
Last night was a good game, gotta hope more than 1/45 shots goes in. Anderson was a beast. Tomorrow will be different. Yeah Pens were not involved in 2006 so I have no recollection.
Another great game, great series. Well played Senators, but the Pens are through to the Stanley Cup Finals for the second year in a row. First time a team has appeared in the Cup Final 2 years in a row since the Pens and the Red Wings played each other 2 years in a row back in 08&09. The 70’s cheese lives for at least four more games and at least 13 days. Bring on the Predators!
