Roasted Pecan shells?

Has anyone ever roasted and steeped pecan shells making a batch? Was going to make my wife a batch of gluten free beer and thought it might help with the sorghum taste I’ve heard about

What are you hoping to extract from the shells? I’ve heard of brewing beers with roasted pecans (both Abita and Lazy Magnolia sell pecan beers) … but not with just the shells.

well i think i’m chickening out on using the shells. afraid i will ruin it

I think the shells would introduce undesirable tannins.

I wondered about making an extract from green pecans for bittering — kind of like nocino but with pecans instead of walnuts.

I’m crazy about roasted pecans, but when eating them if a piece of shell gets in there with it, it tastes terrible. I’d be scared to try it.
