Run for the Hills (The Drew's Sick edition)

I have a piece of advice for all y’all out there:

Don’t ever let a sick teacher get near you. If something breaks through their super ninja immune system, it’ll kill any mere mortals… alas poor yorick…

– Drew
(Currently wondering if it’s worth suffering through the Peruvian Death Flu or just get it over with and shoot myself in the head!)

Shoot…but use a water pistol!  ;)

Get well soon, buddy.

I managed to catch the flu twice last year! Ugh. I thought I had built up an immunity and should be safe. Got sick one week after getting the flu-shots. Thought I was gonna die when my fever shot over 105F.

Drink lots of water and/or juice. Get well Drew.

The bigger problem, though, is that the lower grade bugs that don’t get them, still come home on their clothes and infect others.

And yes, the bugs that break through the immune system of someone who teaches do tend to be brutal. I generally pick up a bug from the undergrads I teach every year, and its always a killer.

Chicken Noodle Soup and bedrest my freind.

Ugh, get well Drew.  Drink lots of fluids!  Stay away from the barleywine and RIS, stick to some milds, Scottish 60/-, or Berliner weisse, no more than 2 quarts a day.

Keep hydrated with fluids and don’t forget that alcohol kills germs.
Now where could I find something that contains them?

Yuck. Fluids and rest. Get well soon. I’m feeling a little of your pain, day 4 of a nasty sinus infection. Contemplating carving them out with my pocketknife…

That just sucks man. It just sucks.

i had two respitory deal this winter. An old told to me take Robitussin…but double the dose, and double the frequency. his doc told him the instructions are for 12 year olds. Look at the package…It say for ages 12 and up. That’s a dose for a 12 year old girl. So, for big dudes like us, we need to double it. I tried that, and in 24 hours, I was a new man!

Drown a cold, drown a fever is what I say.

I like the way you think!

Fixed it for ya!

Get well Drew!!

during Prohibition, Laphroaig was the only single malt scotch that could be imported into the USA. It was imported as ‘medicine’. Now you can import any of them, and guess what? They all work ‘medicinally.’ Get better soon.

wow… so here we are, Tuesday morning, so 3.5 days of being sick as a dog. This is definitely a tough little bug. I somewhat suspect that I’ll be hacking up a lung for the next 3 weeks.

All right, I suspect that it’s time to go to sleep.

Stupid sick feelings.

I’m telling you dude…Robitussin DM. Double the doseage, double the frequency. I think it is something like 4 tbsp every 2 hours. you’ll be a new man by morning.
I finally had to go to the Dr. with my crap. Even the stuff he gave me did not touch it like this did.

Robitussin!

When I worked in a hospital, after the first couple of months I swore nothing could ever again penetrate the super  immune system I had built up. Then I had kids.

Good luck, Drew.

Phew, I’m finally over the worst of it and feel semi-normal!

That only took approximately 136 hours. blah. (Of course, I look at the Babalu thread and feel like a wuss, but still.)

Hey when you start to feel better the world becomes a new thing. A brighter place. Another fresh lease on life. Good to see you feel better.

How much weight did you lose? I lost 14 pounds my last bout of the flu.

Think about 10 lbs or so… and now of course, I’ve lied. I made the 18 mile drive into work and feel all fuzzy headed.
