I have this burner:
Is there any safe way to raise this up or will I just have to get a new one?
I’m handy with woodworking and tools but figured a wooden base for a gas burner wouldn’t be safe.
can’t see the pic cause I am at work but I know several folks on here have wood brew stands without problems. most of the heat is going up so it’s not too much worry. you can put a sheet of tin down for a heat shield if you like.
My solution was much less crafty. I put 4 cinderblocks in a square so that they support all 4 feet of my burner, it raises the kettle up enough to get the fermenter under the spigot but doesn’t make it so high that it’s a PITA to lift a full kettle up there (my mash tun ‘platform’ does not sit quite high enough to just run off into the kettle on the burner)
when i used a burner like that I used wood working horses with a thick sheet of wood and put the whole thing on that. Worked for me!
I use burners on baking sheets on a wooden brew stand, no problems.
Cinder blocks?
Concrete Masonry Units. Same thing.
Steel pipe big enough to slide the legs into?
1/4" angle iron and friend with a welder would work.
As others have said you can use wood too, just avoid having the wood in contact with any of the really hot parts (i.e. the top ring and burner).

I put my burner on top of a sturdy steel/tile patio table (my low-tech and multi-functional, yet, aesthetically-pleasing single-tier brewstand). And a nearly full 20 gallon SS BK on top of that.
Thanks for all the ideas. At a minimum I can pick up the cinder blocks before my next brew day. I do recall the Target near me just got in patio furniture and they had a short, heavy table with a tile top that might double as a burner-raise-r-ater.
Now that sounds dangerous.
My stand is wood. I’ve stuck my hand on the wood under the burner (a banjo burner) and it is not that hot under there. I don’t do that often. I worry much more about things that are next to the burner, especially plastic things.
Well, the table at Target was a little too small…so cinder blocks it is! 
Stack o’ pallets worked great for me, then I took some 12" sq tile and covered the slats, worked great.
Seriously, just make sure the stand you build is really stable.
You can easily get severe 3rd degree burns if it tips with gallons of water (or wort) above 140F.
Absolutely… I actually wondered how many injuries there are each year with 1 million homebrewers. Add in brew day imbibing and there’s bound to be accidents.
The safe way to raise a burner IMO is to talk to it about drugs and safe sex. There’s nothing much else you can do but let it go and hope for the best.
