Sanitizing Stainless?

I need a recommendation for sanitizing stainless other than Star San, bleach or iodophor.

I previously used One Step, but I now notice One Step no longer claims sanitizing.

I’ve run into secondary problems when I use Star San (as I seem to recall reading where yeast actually like what’s in Star San) and thinking of returning to using One Step (or some other sanitizer).

Thanks.

What’s wrong with iodophor?

I use iodophor in my stainless because it’s easy on my hands.

Bleach no. Star San or Iodophor are my go-to sanitizers on all my equipment including SS. You could also use Saniclean by Five Star.

Star San or iodophor.

What problems? I prefer iodophor but star-san is a tried and true sanitizer. Are you sure your problems aren’t from something else?

This thread discusses the pros and cons of Iodophor vs Starsan.

TLDR; Iodophor is a more broad spectrum killer.

Will Iodophor stain countertops, etc?

It could.  I haven’t had it happen.

Phosphoric acid on a cotton swab cleans up any stains I’ve run into including Iodophor or Brewtan B.

That’s a helpful tip. Next time I get some betadine stains I’m going to try star san…

70-80% ethanol would probably work; thought it may be that if you are having contamination issues there is a bunch of crud hiding somewhere that needs to be dealt with also.
Good luck!

Good to know. Is it Star San mixed at normal sanitizer strength or something specially made up for this purpose?
