No, not production… I have small electronic scales, perfect for hops. But the max is 3 pounds and I was weighing 22 pounds of grain in batches… it’s only a matter of time before you lose count… (like last batch…) So better scales. Got these:
What makes these 35 pounders so cool is that the face of the thing, with the buttons and gauges detaches and pulls away on a cord. I am now able to put a large tub on there and weigh out my entire grain bill… So yesterday I actually knew how much grain went into the tun… ;D The only drawback is that the auto power off feature is quick… so you have to be ready to go and do it all.
Ditto here…I’m putting my order in tomorrow.
I rarely buy brew gear. In truth I have a very ‘ghetto’ (but effective) setup considering how long I’ve been at it…but I’ve been thinking about a better scale for a while as well and this looks like it would fit the bill very nicely (and pull double duty as well for more critical and accurate mixing of the various mould and casting resins I use for the homunculi that I make in my garage).
SInce I’m going on a brewery spending frenzy, next up for me after that is a new (bigger) mash tun to replace the one I put into service exactly 20 years ago. Been putting that purchase off for a while and I think it’s time to do it.
