Sekado Malt

Just ordered a bag of Sekado Premium Czech Bohemian Pilsner Malt. It is straight from the Czech Republic.

Never heard of this company, but decided to give it a try.

Has anyone here used this brand, and have any experience with their grain?

I have used it in Czech styles with good results.  I used the floor malted variety, so I step mashed for what it is worth, not that it mattered, most likely.  I added a bit of Munich light malt in later batches to give some extra character in the pale lagers - I enjoyed those a bit better.

Ordered this from Delta Brewing Systems.

Planning to do a classic Czech Pils in the near future. Probably a full double-decoction mash…not that it will make any real difference!

Thanks for your input!

My LHBS was able to order me a 10 lb bag of the Sekado Floor Malted to use in a Czech Pils that I step mashed. It was a very good malt, but can’t say I really noticed much of a difference between it and Weyermann Floor Malted.  I just liked that I was using 100% Czech malts and 100% Czech hops, all Saaz, in the recipe.

I plan to do the same, all authentic Czech ingredients for an authentic Czech Pils. I see another decoction mash in my future!

Just got this delivered. First time I have ever seen a production date, with an expiration date. This must be very fresh, being produced in 2022.

Will be brewing with this next week. Premium Czech Pils. Double decoction.

Czech styles are cool.

I agree 100%. In fact, I have spent lots of time in Germany…Mainz, Frankfurt, Munich, etc. I would always seek out the bar that had Czech beer on tap. I think it is better than the German beer, and the German’s know how to brew!
