Drank Senate Beer ontap about a year ago. Thought it was good.
Recently, due to having a Total Wine coupon, a bought a 12 pack. Just poured myself one. Very cloudy. Glass to nose. Hop aroma. Sip. IMO, this is a cloudy IPA.
What happened to Senate Beer?
Searching online to determine if I’ve totally lost my mind, I find the following review of Senate Beer. “Light, clean and refreshing.” The review was from March 13, 2024.
Um, no, the one I just poured is cloudy and a bit hoppy. Nothing at all similar to the Senate Beer I drank about a year ago.
It’s quite possible that they don’t have their bottling process down, or that you got a bad batch. This was a serious problem with Anchor Brewing; even here in California, whenever I got one of their beers in bottles it was often an oxidized mess.
Today I was at Total Wine, and noted that they don’t refrigerate most of their beer, which is not necessarily a recipe for good quality craft brew stability.
So, it might be that the fresh draft beer is exceptional, and the bottled/canned version is not great for any number of reasons.
