Shipping samples from Canada for competition

Hi everyone, I reside in Canada and have successfully registered for the National Homebrewers competition. However, I have just run into some obstacles where my local couriers do not allow any FDA-regulated shipments into the USA. Are there any other fellow Canadians participating that would have any advice or suggestions for me please ?

Hi, Elias

Just to be clear, according to US regulations, beer is neither a food nor a drug. Thus it is not regulated by the FDA. Alcohol is a classified as a toxic weapon regulated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Not sure you want to put that on your shipping boxes, though.

I took a look and there are some other Canadian entrants shipping to other sites. Did you try posting to your local clubs’ pages and sites? Are you part of the Master Homebrewers Program? You could try also posting to their Discord.

Please let us know what you find out!!

Another site for information is the Competitive Homebrewing Facebook page. I imagine there are some Canadian competitors that can offer shipping advice.

Hi Jen, thanks for replying. I don’t know any groups, and I’m not active in social media either, any chance you could find out how those samples were sent from Canada? Thanks you.

I have asked the other entrants to post here. And I will see what I can find out. ‘Watch this space!’
