Should we start a new discussion area for sours?

Just sayin … It seems like a whole new topic area could be started for this… What do you think?

Good idea! One can never be too careful with infections  :stuck_out_tongue:

Sounds like a denny and drew question. I think it is a good idea.

Nice!

Are there really more questions here about sour beers than hoppy beers?

Let’s have a mod discussion and get Gary involved, too.

A dedicated area might get more participation from Tonsmierre or Yakobson… or both.

The Bug Corner!

Would love to have a sour section.

I had a great Berliner Weisse last night from my daughter - it was called Athena, a really good beer from Creature Comforts Brewing Company in Athens, Ga.  It inspired the question.

There’s a bunch of good funky farm out there. I’m enjoying my peche brett right now. Pretty darn good if I say so my own self.

nah, we don’t need a whole other section for it. we’ve got good general sections. talk all you want about sours and those that are interested will find it. and those that think they aren’t might find it too instead of just skipping that ‘yucky sour’ section.

Agreed. I read everything, so to me the whole forum is sours. Or IPAs, or…

+1

Yes I find this subject of some interest. Especially on a sour Braggot. Anyone got any experience with these?

I haven’t used braggot level of honey in a sour, but I’ve gone up to 20% of the fermentables. I am a fan of what the Brett and bugs do to the honey. Adds some interesting notes. I did just blend a braggot with a sour in the keg, and am looking forward to that. I have used Brett in a braggot, but I don’t think I let it age long enough.

Guys, I really don’t think this is gonna happen.  If we do that, why not an area for IPA?  Brown ale?  If some of you want a separate area, give me reasons I can take to the other mods.

That’s exactly why there doesn’t need to be a separate section for sours. This forum doesn’t move so quickly that further atomization is necessary. A thread can stay on the first page of any of the existing sections for weeks or longer.

Hey I’m new to this thing so where does one post at?

On Tapatalk select the “Homebrewers Association” drop down menu at the top center.  Go into a particular forum then select the menu button in the upper right of the screen.  Select “New Topic.”
