SN THROW BACK THURSDAY

Circa 1983…

I believe my first ever drinking party with friends was 1983. No SN. Stroh’s and peppermint snapps.

Rumplemintz?

ha! Great guess. That was a couple years later and 101 proof as I recall. It was probably arrow or even a lesser brand.

Holy crap, 1983 Celebration?

Yep I lived the joy and pain of rumplemintz back in the day.

How bout them fill levels…

oxidation wasn’t invented yet?

Yeah, ouch !!!

I can still see and feel the knobby moguls all over the bottle. Bbrrrrrrt!

I had this poster for the longest time back them…high school into college.

Any one else remember when SN was twist off caps?

Yep.

Heck, wasn’t even that long ago.

No. That would have come in handy back when I literally drank and drove. Back then the best I could find for twist offs was Killian’s Irish Red.

Yeah, I remember getting a beer-o-the-month club thing for the first time and getting to try SN. I was blown away by it - didn’t know what the brewing terms meant, just that the beer was way the hell better. I couldn’t wait to figure out how.

I’ll have to check, I think I have a 2008 Bigfoot with a twist off cap.

I think it was 2009.

Edit - 2007  I knew it was after I started brewing.

2008 was the first year they used the pryoff o2 barrier caps. I did a verticle bigfoot tasting 05-14 and the difference between 05-07 and 08 was night and day. the 08 tasted almost fresh compared to the older vintages.

Ken, I can do one better, but no picture. In 1990 or so, I worked at BW3 as GM. We got a 7 foot tall cardboard cut out of the Rumpleminze Vixen and had her just inside the entrance of our house. Very cheesy, but also a lot of fun back I  those days. Some great drunken photos, wish I still had them
