Edit: Sneak Preview of a soon to be released beer…
I did a visit to Ft. Collins this weekend and the bar back
at the New Belgium brewery brought me a taste of the
Only bottle I saw of a new upcoming release named
Snow Daze. It looked to me like he kind of snuck it
out of the cooler and busted it open and poured it
into about 4 glasses. It is brewed with Black Wheat…and
has the appearance of a dark beer with the body and
flavor of a Not dark beer. Hop bill was Cascade,
Amarillo, and Styrian Goldings if I recall correctly.
It is the replacement for the old 2 Below which they told me
was due back in production 2 years from now. I anxiously
await the official release of this brew and will seek it out
in November for a re-tasting. I gotta say I was not disappointed.
As a big fan of New Belgium, but not so much of 2 Below, I will anxiously wait to see this beer appear on the shelves at my local grocery store. Sounds tasty, thanks for the heads up!

I like this beer. It is not 2 below but it is not at all bad. Good level of hops…
The dark color and light colored beer attributes is a unique dichotomy.
I will re-live this again…
Recently picked up 9 of the seasonal beers I can get here in portland. Tried 6 of them so far, this one is, well, the most non-descript. The ninkasi (double alt) is a great malty beer and the SN celebration is (of course) a great hoppy beer. but the snow day was quite unremarkable and bland.
I had one the other day and liked it. wasn’t blown away. The color was nice and the hint of roastiness I liked, the wife not so much. reminded me of a schwartzbeir or really light porter. didn’t get much in the way of wheat character the hop presense was at a good level for me, agian not so much for the wife.
Was in Tennessee over Thanksgiving and scored a 12 pack of this. I really liked it too. A treat, too, because I normally can’t get NB beers here in Jersey…
i tried this last night. nice dark color, kahki foam. hop aroma and aftertaste was a bit medicinal. not particularly bitter. just funky. the underlying malt comes through. i expected to. there is a tang from the wheat but not as unagreeable (to me) as a dunkelweizen. ( i like dunkles, not the weizen part) i would drink it again but would not go out of my way to get it.
Have this on tap at the local BBQ joint. Not over the top hoppy, but nice, somewhat balanced with a hint of roast. I like it enough to go with a half price burger. 8)
