Spruce tips

What would be the best whirlpool temperature (and time) to extract spruce flavor without making it taste like Pine-Sol?

I do 3 ounces at 15 minutes and a 60 whirlpool starting at 185

Do you forage your own or buy them? If foraging, what kind of pine tree?

No kind of pine tree…it’s spruce.  When I did it I  harvested the tender tips of blue spruce in the spring.
