Starter DME Issue

I need to get a starter going and typically do 2 quarts water and 5 ounces of DME. Sadly, I only have 4.3 ounces of DME and don’t feel like driving out to the LBHS for more.

Would this lower gravity starter cause any issues? Would I need to add any additional juice or sugar, etc. to boost it up?

My original starter setup created a 1.028 gravity, never had an issue with it. With the lower amount of DME, it will create a 1.024 gravity.

I would file this under RDWHAHB.

Proceed.

But I’ll add, you might want to consider converting to weights and metric. 100 grams DME per Liter  is a very easy way to create starters and creates a starter gravity of 1.037-1.040 every time and is more precise than trying to measure DME by volume. If you weigh out the DME you might find you actually have the right amount:)

I am weighing this, so the DME weight is 4.3 ounces. I think I was using the online calculator wrong because I am actually using over 100 grams. Thanks for the tips gents.
