Noticed tonight that my little starter mixture (5 oz. DME/ 2 quarts water) has very little hot break. Continued to boil for 10 minutes but didn’t look like a big thick hot break I’m use to seeing when brewing.
It did boil up when I stirred though. Common for this little amount of DME?
I’m getting away from boiling in the flask too. Without ferm cap it is simply hazardous and I really don’t like adding unnecessary things to my beer (or starters).
