Stone "Enjoy After" Brett IPA

Has anyone tried this from last year? i believe 2014 was the first year it came out and was supposed to be Enjoyed after 10/31/2015. I never saw it in my area, but did find some of this year’s batch, Enjoy After 10/31/16 and have my fingers crossed in anticipation. I have been a huge Stone fan for a little over 10 years and am always willing to try anything they distribute near me, maybe with the exception of the recent 24 Carrot whatever it was
So who has any thoughts on Enjoy After?

I have one bottle in my cellar.  It is Enjoy after 12/26/15.  Obviously a Christmas beer, so I will open it that day.

Mine have 2016 enjoy after dates so it’ll be awhile.

Thanks guys. Mine will be hanging in the cellar for the next year and then start sampling

I picked up a bottle from a batch released mid-year. I’m a big fan of hoppy brett beers so I’m excited to see how this develops. I have a half-plan to brew a similar IPA next year but it will depend upon how quickly I drink through what I already have in bottles, fermentors and planned for next year.

So they are selling beer before its ready so you store it instead of it taking up valuable square footage at their facility? What a racket. Brilliant!

Exactly, because they don’t have the room. I think it was a neat way to take advantage of the popularity of “Enjoy By” and Brett fermentations all rolled together. But maybe I’m too much of a fan boy

I think its pretty clever actually, nothing evil. If anything they might need to charge more to store it themselves.

I think it is a brilliant way to differentiate it from other (non-brett) IPAs.

The same could be said for any brewery selling beer with a best after date.

I actually never thought of it this way. Climate controller storage is expensive, so smart idea if true.

It is a double edged sword. If a customer can’t store the beer well, they may be unhappy with it.

Do these beers come with storage instructions? Steve’s got a good point, you think they would want to encourage proper storage.

I know some of the Arrogant Bastard varieties have instructions to store in a cool place in a certain temperature range. I’d be surprised if Stone didn’t do the same with these beers.

They are labeled to store at 50-70 till matured I believe. Not sitting in front of it but that’s what I remember seeing when I bought them

I hope I finally mature at 50-70. Almost there!

Same here Pete, 50 is not far away

Even with storage instructions, not many people can climate control a cellaring worthy amount of beer. I know I can’t but wish I could.

I think if you’ve got a fairly stable “cellar” you can make do even if the temps aren’t ideal.

My “cellar” is a back closet in the house, next to a large steel safe. Temps typically hover around 72o in the summer, ±1o or so. Winter it’s usually 62o with the same variance. I’ve had very nice results, so I’ve added to my stock.

I’m sure more ideal conditions would result in a better beer in the end, but I still think it’s worth it.
