Stout head color

Brewed, kegged, and tapped my first stout recently. Head is darker than I expected; I’d almost call it brown.  Would that seem normal from the following grain bill?

7 lb Maris Otter
2 lb Flaked Barley
1.25 lb Roasted Barley

It has not aged in the keg yet, but I pulled half a pint to check carbonation.

W/O a pic not sure but it may be sediment from bottom of keg being the first pull. A brown color wouldn’t be abnormal though in my opinion.

The head on stouts is often a mahogany color.

A brown head would be too dark in my opinion.  “Brown”, to me, would be just slightly lighter than the color of the beer.

That’s a pretty standard Stout grain bill (give or take) and should produce a tan/off white/cream color.  Maybe we are using different words to describe the same thing, so like Hop Den said, a picture would be helpful.

Sorry. I don’t know how to get the pic to display here.

Not unusual

I agree.  Looks good to me.  Too good, actually.

Cheers!

I also have a Stout on tap. The foam on my beers look very similar to yours. Cheers!

It looks (and sounds, by grainbill) excellent.  Enjoy!

So here is mine for comparison. Barrel aged but that doesn’t make any difference.

Looks great! Now I just have to figure out how to get pics to show up without having to follow an external link!

I use the Tapatalk app on my phone.

That actually pretty awesome. That is exactly what I hope to see when I pour a stout.

Mine always come out with a tan head like the above photo. Thats a lot of roast though. How did it taste?

Why is Guinness head almost white? Just the nitro?

It really isn’t. It’s tan to light brown unless the pic is photoshopped.
