Stout tank thermometer

So this may be a dumb question s d maybe I’m overthinking this,
We recently bought a couple stout tanks a bk and a mt.  They have thermowells for the thermometer.  One of the thermowells when I screw the thermometer in it stops upside down.  Am I missing something?

Add more, or maybe remove, thread tape.

Not familiar with Stout tanks but aren’t the thermowells fully closed such that your thermometer never touches the wort?  If so back off you thermometer half a turn.

Yeah it doesn’t need to be screwed in all the way.  Alternatively you can unscrew it and start it at a different point… If you really want it screwed in all the way.

both of these will get you where you need to be. I have never seen threads that have multiple entry points outside of a specific kind of aviation electrical connector that has 3 thread entry points.
