Strangest thing you have found in your bag of grain?

I have found assorted bugs, sunflower seeds and the nastiest is an old finger nail. Called the brew old finger nail, it never made it in the mash though.

Not totally strange, but I have and expect to find ergotine cysts in rye.
Hmmmm St. Anthony’s Fire Beer…

Like Charlie Brown…I got a rock.

you mean st vitus’s dance beer yes? St Anthony’s fire is a real thing unrelated to ergot. not that st. vitus’s dance is actually related to ergot either.

Stems and seeds. A rock or two.

Grain. They’re usually empty.

To Quote Wikipedia here
"St. Anthony’s fire (also known historically as Ignis Sacer and Holy Fire) may refer to one of the following diseases:

Ergotism (this meaning particularly common in France and Germany)"

for some reason I read your original post three timeas as st elmo’s file. just call me that slow fellow :-\

I did find Ally Sheedy in a bag of Munich once.

The brewpub in Artesia gave me a bag of Briess two row once because the brewer found metal chunks in it.  It was a seized bearing, probably from a conveyor belt used to fill the sack.  I just poured the malt over a big magnet before I poured it into the mill and got all the pieces out, there really wasn’t very much.
Otherwise just the random crap that is associated with any agricultural product-twigs, seeds of other plants, etc.

you, sir, are a lucky man!

Just ordered a bag of Best Malz pils and TF optic from NCM…we will see if anything
shows…

Best thing is that the Bags with Logos make good artsy wall hangers

I found my soul in a bag once… or was that the bottom of a glass?

Then after all that wrangling  ::)  THEY DROPPED ME!
no more bulk malt from Country Malt Group.  DAMMIT.
