Strisslespalt Substitution

Next up is Denny’s Batch 400, a monster Belgian Quad.  The flameout hop is Strisslespalt, but unfortunately they are not available at Northern Brewer right now (my LHBS).  Substitutions on the AHA website are Crystal, Liberty, Mt Hood, and Hallertauer Hersbrucker.  Having not brewed with this hop before, I’m not sure what would be the best substitute.  Hersbrucker is the 60 minute hop, so should I just go with it all the way through?

Yeah, Hersbrucker will be fine. I’m surprised there’s more than a 60 min addition. Regardless, by the time it ages a few months, you won’t be able to pick up any specific hop character amyway.

Yeah, that will be fine.  There’s not a lot contributed by the flameout hops, anyway.

Hersbrucker will be fine, but any of those other ones would be fine, too.
