Sun King Fistful of Hops

Well, I’m going to have to say that there may be two masterful breweries in Indiana now…3Floyds and Sun King. Sun King’s Fistful of Hops IPA is a wonderfully flavorful hop bomb that still provides a drinkable balance. The current version includes a notable orange flavor to the hopping when the beer warms. Well worth searching for if you are in Indiana. I’m not sure that it’s available out of state.

My hat is off to the brewery.

+1.  I bought some last weekend, and it is a nice beer. The orange character makes the beer really drinkable and enjoyable. I also bought some of their annual Grapefruit Jungle IPA ~ a month ago as well. I really like it - it does have an obvious pleasant grapefruit hop character, both in flavor and aroma, but is balanced by a light but firm maltiness. A well attenuated West Coast style ale.

Is there a new one out? The last one I had, about a month ago, was a total Summit bomb.

In other words, best suited for making beer-battered onion rings?

Gotta say, I’ve never liked using Summit for that reason, but this is an onion free beer. Good stuff.

I was rather underwhelmed by Grapefruit Jungle this year. I certainly didn’t think it was worth what liquor stores were charging for the 4 packs.

Yeah, that was the issue for me. I liked it, but not the price point.
